The American Civil War Society - Sheffield Fayre

The ever popular American Civil War battle with sweeping, colourful action with cannon and ranks of Union and Confederate soldiers armed with the rifled muskets of the time. There's a close link with Sheffield too as many weapons made in the city were exported to both sides, and with a staggering 50,000 British volunteers fighting on one side of the other, some of these men will have come from Sheffield and Yorkshire.

National Tramway Museum - Crich, Derbyshire

The National Tramway Museum, at Crich, in Derbyshire, is situated within Crich Tramway Village, a period village containing a pub, cafe, old-style sweetshop, including the tram depots. The village is also home to the Eagle Press, a small museum dedicated to Letterpress Printing including an 1859 Columbian printing press. The museum's collection of trams runs through the village setting. Visitors are transported one mile out into the countryside and back, aboard the varied fleet of trams.The trams at Crich mostly ran along the streets of cities before the 1960s, with some trams rescued and restored (even from other countries) as the systems closed.

Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival - Yorkshire Dales

Kettlewell hosts Britain’s best scarecrow festival. It is a great day out for all the family. Follow the theme of the trail to take you round the idyllic Yorkshire Dale's village.

This year the theme of the children’s trail is hobbies and the adults’ is countries.

Escafeld Medieval Society

The Escafeld Medieval Society was formed over 30 years ago by a group of Police Officers based in Sheffield. It all started in 1971 as the entertainment for the annual Police Gala where the aforementioned group performed a display on the theme of the Wild West.

This went down very well and the intrepid players were asked to return the following year, this time the theme of medieval knights was chosen. This was even more popular than the first show and some suggested that it might make a great hobby in itself. Sure enough, the Escafeld Medieval Society was formed in 1973 and so far has enjoyed almost 35 years of displays in Yorkshire and further afield in Wales and Scotland.

Supercars in the city

Super Cars in the City in association with Sporting Bears were offering a unique opportunity to go for a passenger ride in a number of sports and supercars. In return for a charitable donation to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, you could be taken out in the car of your choice to the outskirts of the city and back. The Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice offers care and support to children with a shortened life expectancy, both in their own homes and at there hospice in Sheffield. Bluebell Wood is a place filled with laughter and love, giving families the chance to relax, take a break and have fun, and help support the whole family.

The Claremont Sheffield Grand Prix Cycling Race

The Claremont Sheffield Grand Prix was the final round of the British Cycling Elite Circuit Race Series and incorporated the Baxi Women's National Elite Criterium Championships.
